Wizzair – Eindhoven – 2012
On March 16th, 2012, a Wizzair Airbus A320-200, registration HA-LPK performing flight W6-2525 from Riga (Latvia) to Eindhoven (Netherlands) with 174 people on board, had landed on Eindhoven’s runway 22 when during slow down smoke became visible from an engine. Responding emergency services, alerted by the crash button pressed in the tower, inspected the smoking engine however found no evidence of fire but a leak with oil dripping onto the hot section of the engine.
Wizzair – Kiev – 2012
On March 14th, 2012, a Wizzair Ukraine Airbus A320-200, registration UR-WUA performing flight WU-6102 from Memmingen (Germany) to Kiev Zhulhany (Ukraine), arrived in Kiev for what appeared to be a safe landing. A post flight inspection however revealed traces of a tail strike.

Wizzair – Bucharest – 2011
On November 30th 2011, a Wizzair Airbus A320-200, registration HA-LPV performing flight W6-3131 from Bucharest Baneasa (Romania) to Milan Bergamo (Italy) with 157 passengers, was in the inital climb out of Bucharest Baneasa Airport’s runway 07 when the aircraft dropped an engine access panel. The crew levelled off at about 5000 feet and returned to Baneasa’s runway 07 for a safe landing about 18 minutes after departure. A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration HA-LPW reached Bergamo Airport with a delay of 5:20 hours.

Wizz Air – Sofia – 2010
On May 1st, a Wizzair A320 operating from Veniceto Sofia, made an emergency landing at Sofia Airport. Two landing wheels burst when the aircraft attempted a landing at Sofia airport. All 156 people on board are safe. The incident delayed most of the flights at the airport.
Wizz Air – Kiev – 2009
On 29 December 2009, a Wizzair Ukraine Airbus A320-200, performing flight from Venice to Kiev with 154 passengers and 6 crew, skidded past the left hand edge of the landing runway before coming to a stop. No injuries occured, both engines (V2527) received fan damage.

Wizzair – Rome – 2009
On 12 April 2009, a Wizzair airplane was forced to return at the airport of Timisoara (Romania) after reporting a problem with the landing gear which remained open-stuck. The plane with 147 passangers on board was flying on a route to Rome (Italy) when 20 minutes into the flight a strong smell of burned plastic was felt into the cabin. The landing was done without troubles at about 14:30 local time.

Wizzair – Valence – 2008
On 29 November 2008, a Wizz Air plane, from Bucharest (Romania) to Valencia,SP (Spain) with 141 passengers, encountered a flock of birds while climbing through 4500 feet after takeoff from Bucharest’s Baneasa Airport. A loud bang was heard from the left hand engine, the crew noticed vibrations thereafter, shut the engine down, declared emergency and diverted to Bucharest’s International Airport Otopi. The landing 12 minutes after takeoff was safe. The flight was cancelled.
Passengers complain to still be left at the terminal without meals, accomodation and any information three hours after the return. No representative of the airline was available so far.

Wizzair – Budapest – 2007
On 30 May 2007, a Wizzair plane had one of its engines on fire before departure, as the plane was on the runway of Bucharest airport. 76 passengers were evacuated with the help of 25 firefighters. The fire was put out by the plane’s internal extinguishing system. The flight was 11 hours delayed.
