easyJet – Manchester – 2012
On January 27th, 2012, an Easyjet Airbus A320-200, registration G-EZUI performing flight U2-1946 from Athens (Greece) to Manchester,EN (UK), was on final approach to Manchester’s runway 23R descending through about 1300 feet when a lightning struck the aircraft. The crew went around and entered a holding at 4000 feet to run checklists, then had to wait until snow removal on the runways was complete before landing safely on runway 23R about 25 minutes after aborting the first approach.

Jet2 – Manchester – 2011
On the 28th of August 2011, a Jet2 Boeing 737-300, registration G-CELC performing flight LS-884 from Pisa (Italy) to Manchester,EN (UK), aborted the approach to Manchester while descending through 4000 feet due to problems with the flaps. The aircraft entered a holding for troubleshooting and burning fuel and landed safely at a higher than normal speed about 30 minutes later and taxied to the apron.

On August 10th 2011, an Easyjet Airbus A319-100, registration G-EZFW performing flight U2-1912 from Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) to Manchester,EN (UK), was enroute near Manchester when a male passenger (around 50) started to suffer from severe back spasms. The crew accelerated the approach to Manchester for a safe landing. Paramedics met the aircraft, took care of the patient and took him to a hospital.

Flybe – Manchester – 2010
On July 29th 2010, Flybe flight BE663 was flying from Manchester for Bournemouth. A few minutes after take off, the captain announced the plane was having “technical” problems. The captain then announced that the problem had worsened and that he was shutting down an engine. The crew decided to turn back to Manchester and landed safely shortly at Manchester Airport.

Easyjet – Manchester – 2008
On 21 August 2008, an Easyjet plane flying about one hour from Paphos (Cyprus) to Manchester, started to shake violently. Passengers initially thought, they had encountered severe turbulences, but the shaking didn’t stop. The captain declared emergency and returned to Paphos. The cause of the violent shaking is unknown. The airline confirmed a technical issue without giving any more detail. The plane got repaired and resumed the flight wit 24h delay.
Some passengers reported they were not booked in hotel by the company, they did not receive any help ans were told there was no plane available before september.
Jet2 – Manchester – 2009
On 6 August 2009, a Jet2 plane flyning from Tel Aviv to Manchester, diverted to Budapest (hungary) du to pressurization problems. Passengers reported, that there were some turbulences, then the oxygen masks deployed and the crew initiated an emergency descent.
A replacement plane departed Budapest and is estimated to reach Manchester with a delay of 16.5 hours.
