Ryanair – Dublin – 2011
On December 5, 2011, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DCL performing flight FR-771 from Prestwick,SC (UK) to Dublin (Ireland), aborted the approach to Dublin’s runway 28 reporting leading edge slat problems and entered a holding at 3000 feet for about 30 minutes. While the crew initially indicated they would not need services on stand by, the crew subsequently declared PAN, requested services on stand by and indicated they would need to land at a minimum speed of 180 KIAS and could do only shallow turns. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Dublin’s runway 28 at a higher than normal speed about 40 minutes after aborting the first approach.

On tuesday 6th of September 2011, a Ryanair flight was forced to return to Dublin airport shortly after take-off yesterday after the aircraft was struck by lightning. Ryanair flight FR554 from Dublin to Manchester had just taken off shortly after 4pm when the crew contacted air traffic controllers to advise them the aircraft had been hit by lightning. The flight landed safely about 30 minutes after take-off and did not require any emergency services to be on standby.

Ryanair flight FR-449, a scheduled service between Liverpool and Dublin, was flying at a height of 18,000 feet when the flight crew initiated the emergency descent. The flight was about 55 miles east of Dublin when the crew declared an emergency. The crew carried out a “controlled descent” to 10,000ft, initially reporting problems with cabin pressure. The flight was then cleared to descend to 6,000ft, where the crew entered a holding pattern for about 20 minutes. The AAIU has confirmed that: “an investigation is under way.”

The crew of a Ryanair flight failed to realise that the left engine had touched the runway when landing at Dublin airport, a report by the Air Accident Investigation Unit has found.
The damage caused to the left engine nacelle (cover) went unnoticed for two subsequent flights, the report found. However, the damage was minor and there were no injuries.

On Oct 7th 2010, a Ryanair 737, registred EI-EMB, operating a fight from Stockholm to Dublin met a technical problem. Pilots decided to divert the plane and land to Billund Danish Airport.
Ryanair – Dublin – 2009
On 13 March 2009, a Ryanair plane going to Dublin, returned to Gdansk after a burning smell developed in the cockpit during climb. The airplane landed safely amidst a full emergency response by the airport about 30 minutes after takeoff. Emergency services could not find any source of heat or fire using thermal imaging.
A replacement aircraft was dispatched to Gdansk and brought the passengers to Dublin with a delay of close to 6 hours.
Ryanair – Dublin – 2004
On 29 April 2004, a Ryanair plane going to Dublin had to turn back and make an emergency landing at Charleroi Airport (Belgium) after the pilot reported a problem with the landing gear. Passengers an crew were evacuated via the emergency chutes and one passenger received minor injuries.
Ryanair – Dublin – 2003
On 3 February 2003, a Ryanair plane flying from London Luton to Dublin was diverted to London Stansted shortly after take off after a fire warning on board was noticed. As the jet touched down, its brakes seized and the aircraft came to a halt in the middle of the airport’s sole runway blocking all other flights from taking off or landing.

On 11 September 2008, a Ryanair flight experienced trouble at the Dublin Airport when the plane’s tail reportedly hit the runway as it attempted to take off. the plane did end up talking off, but the impact meant that emergency masks descended throughout the cabin. The pilot also decided to land immediately in Dublin in order to assess if the plane had suffered any sort of damage during the incident.
The Republic of Ireland’s transport ministry officials have decided to launch an investigation into the accident.
