Germanwings – Stuttgart – 2012

On February 7th, 2012, a Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AKNP performing flight 4U-2759 from Vienna (Austria) to Stuttgart (Germany), aborted the approach to Stuttgart and entered a holding at FL100, then FL080. About 50 minutes after entering the holding the crew continued the approach for a landing on Stuttgart’s runway 07, during roll out the aircraft veered to the left but was brought to a stop still on the runway.

Germanwings – Hanover – 2012

On January 11th, 2012, a Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWI performing flight 4U-3816 from Hanover (Germany) to Venice (Italy), was cleared to climb to FL240 and was climbing through FL190 about 25nm south of Hanover at about 20:02L (19:02Z). An Air Contractors Avion de Transport Regional ATR-42-300 on behalf of Federal Express, registration EI-FXA performing a freight flight (callsign ABR2MA) from Cologne to Hamburg (Germany), was enroute at FL200 about 25nm south of Hanover at the same time. The German BFU reported in their monthly bulletin in German that the separation between the two aircraft reduced to 200 feet vertical and 1.9nm horizontally with both aircraft responding to TCAS resolution advisories. The controller proceeded with two more coordination calls, then at about 20:02:30L recognized the developing conflict and instructed the A319 at 20:02:32L to turn 50 degrees to the right advising the A319 of opposite traffic at FL200. At that point the horizontal distance was about 7.5nm.

Germanwings – Cologne – 2008

On 27 May 2008, as a Germanwings plane was climbing out of Dublin enroute for Cologne (Germany), the cabin crew noticed many passengers had felt asleep. The flight crew, informed, assume to have a pressurization problem, declared emergency and returned to Dublin. The Irish Air Accident Investigation (AAIU) was in charge of the investigation. The aircraft departed Dublin on Saturday (May 31st) for an unpressurized ferry flight to Toulouse, where further examinations and investigations will be carried out by Airbus Industries.

On 11 June 2007, a Germanwings plane had to turn back to Hamburg shortly after take off because computers showed an error message, unknown by the pilot. Passengers were flighted to London by a replacement aircraft.

Germanwings – Berlin – 2009

On 16 July 2009, a Germanwing plane on approach to Berlin airport had to declare emergency as the gear doors stayed opened. The plane landed safely but had to be towed off the runway.
