Ryanair – Palermo – 2012

On Ferbuary 23rd, 2012, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DLH performing flight FR-8875 from Palermo to Treviso (Italy), rejected takeoff from Palermo and returned to the apron. A passenger reported the crew explained a caution light had illuminated due to some technical issue. After about 20 minutes at the apron, following some maintenance and refuelling, the aircraft departed again.

Air Berlin – Munich – 2012

On February 8th, 2012, an Air Berlin Boeing 737-800, registration D-ABKQ performing flight AB-6188 from Munich to Berlin Tegel (Germany), was in the initial climb out of Munich’s runway 08L when the gear could not be fully retracted. The aircraft levelled off at 5000 feet and entered a holding for about 20 minutes to troubleshoot the problem, then performed a low approach to runway 08L for a visual inspection from the ground. The aircraft subsequently joined the left downwind and landed safely on runway 08L about 40 minutes after departure.

Germanwings – Stuttgart – 2012

On February 7th, 2012, a Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AKNP performing flight 4U-2759 from Vienna (Austria) to Stuttgart (Germany), aborted the approach to Stuttgart and entered a holding at FL100, then FL080. About 50 minutes after entering the holding the crew continued the approach for a landing on Stuttgart’s runway 07, during roll out the aircraft veered to the left but was brought to a stop still on the runway.

Ryanair – London – 2012

On February 7th, 2012, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-ENT performing flight FR-1182 from Shannon (Ireland) to London Gatwick,EN (UK) with 131 people on board, was on a visual approach to Gatwick’s runway 08R when the aircraft descended below profile and received a terrain message. The crew corrected the profile and continued for a safe landing on runway 08R.

Ryanair – Tenerife – 2012

On February 6th, 2012, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DHB performing flight FR-1228 from Tenerife Sur Reine Sofia,CI (Spain) to Billund (Denmark) with 138 passengers, was climbing through FL340 out of Tenerife about 110nm north of Sur Reina Sofia Airport when the crew reported the smell of smoke in the cabin and decided to return to Tenerife’s southern airport. The aircraft landed safely at Sur Reina Sofia Airport about 22 minutes later. Responding emergency services found no trace of fire, heat or smoke.

Ryanair – Zurich – 2012

On February 6th, 2012, a Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DCK performing flight FR-4523 from Milan Bergamo (Italy) to Brussels Charleroi (Belgium), was climbing through FL360 out of Bergamo about 40nm southeast of Zurich (Switzerland) when the crew donned their oxygen masks and initiated an emergency descent to FL100 (average sinkrate about 4300 feet/min) reporting a rapid decompression of their aircraft. The aircraft continued on FL100, later FL080 to destination for a safe landing on Charleroi’s runway 25 about one hour after initiating the emergency descent.
